Pebble Beach Company Foundation Annual Report

Since debuting a car at Pebble Beach in 2001, Patterson has shared 17 additional cars from his collection, three of which have gone on to win Best of Show. Over two decades, he and his late wife Dot also contributed $320,000 to Pebble Beach Company Foundation. Then in 2023, following his third Best of Show win, Patterson made an extraordinary pledge: He committed his 1939 Delage D6-3L Grand Prix to Pebble Beach Company Foundation. Although several individuals and manufacturers have donated cars to charity in connection with the Pebble Beach Concours, through auctions or opportunity drawings, Patterson’s forward-thinking gesture marks a historic first — his Delage is the first vehicle ever donated directly to Pebble Beach Company Foundation. Now on display at the Blackhawk Museum in Danville, California, the Delage is available for enthusiasts to enjoy before it crosses the auction block at a future Gooding Christie’s sale leading into the Pebble Beach Concours. This donation is significant not just in sum, but because the Delage will eventually be entrusted to a new steward and every dollar from its sale will be immediately reinvested in the community. This contribution, facilitated by Pebble Beach Company Foundation, will go directly to more than 115 vetted charitable programs, ensuring a real, measurable and immediate impact on those that need it most. Patterson’s remarkable gift sets a powerful precedent, encouraging fellow collectors to consider how the full value of their automobiles can make a lasting difference. The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance not only celebrates the automobile, but also the generous spirit of those who use these magnificent machines to drive philanthropy forward. Since 1950, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance has raised over $41 million for charity — most of which goes to help children in our community through more than 115 organizations supported by Pebble Beach Company Foundation. Much of this success is due to the loyal, passionate and generous entrants who share their prized automobiles on the 18th fairway each year. While many visit Pebble Beach only once a year — on the third Sunday in August — their generosity continues to make a lasting impact in our community year-round. Among the most generous of these benefactors is esteemed collector and longtime friend of the Concours, Jim Patterson.
