For more than 100 years, what happened behind The Lodge, on the famed 18th hole of Pebble Beach Golf Links, has defined legacies. Nicklaus cemented an unparalleled Pebble Beach resume in ’72; Tom Watson closed with consecutive birdies a decade later. Tiger Woods punctuated the most dominant display in major championship history at the 100th U.S. Open, and in 2023, the U.S. Women’s Open reached new heights, being played here for the first time.
Within the walls of The Lodge, guests have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and promotions. Inside The Tap Room – Pebble Beach’s iconic 19th Hole – many rounds have been recounted, shots replayed, and memories made. Across the hall, Stillwater has treated diners to mouthwatering seafood and dazzling ocean views alike. And before guests even set foot in the building, travelers are greeted by The Lodge’s striking presence, offering an old-school charm that can be seen and a century’s worth of history that invites them to make more of their own.
Last month, The Lodge ushered in a new chapter following nine months of renovations that began the day after Rory McIlroy was victorious at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. What awaits guests is something that must be seen to be believed.

As visitors approach The Lodge, those who have visited in the past will immediately notice the reimagined entrance. Flanked by 140-year-old olive trees, the doors that have welcomed travelers from every corner of the world are preceded by custom pavers that allow guests to glide through the doors.

Once through the doors, the world-famous views of Stillwater Cove present a grand opening to the Pebble Beach experience, and the Terrace Lounge welcomes with an expanded footprint and greater capacity than ever.

Down the hall and to the left, a refreshed yet familiar Tap Room awaits. The recognizable deep green and leather booths provide a feeling of comfort with a menu that boasts all the classics guests have come to love. If these walls could talk, they would have plenty to share as the Tap Room interior is lined with a century’s worth of resort history. At the very end of the restaurant awaits a new 24-person private dining room – The Champions Room – which is lined tip to toe with USGA championship memorabilia. From pairings guides to programs, the room has been designed to capture the rich history of U.S. Opens at Pebble Beach and is highlighted by the addition of the wedge Tom Watson used to chip-in on the 17th, on his way to defeating Jack Nicklaus at the ’82 U.S. Open.

While The Tap Room is familiar by design, across the hall, Stillwater has been entirely transformed. A new menu is just the beginning with the new design incorporating a wraparound main dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows, soft brick arches supporting a vaulted ceiling, a glass-enclosed wine room, and a new 24-person private dining room of its own – The Lone Cypress Room. The star of the transformation, however, is a central bar that anchors the main dining space and is set prominently against the views of Stillwater Cove.

Behind the scenes, the kitchen space has been expanded and upgraded with state-of-the-art equipment, providing our talented culinary team with the tools to bring to life the new staples of the Stillwater menu and the classics of The Tap Room.
At a place that is synonymous with history, this project created a unique intersection of the aspects that make The Lodge iconic and the opportunities to position it for another century. Our hope, as it always has been, is for each guest who walks through its doors to immerse themselves in its history, while creating their own unforgettable moments. We’ll be here to get the door for you.
