Gyrotonic® & Pilates Classes at The Beach & Tennis Club

The Studio at The Beach & Tennis Club offers general conditioning and sports specific training through personal instruction in Pilates and the Gyrotonic Expansion System®.

Pilates exercises teach awareness of neutral alignment of the spine and strengthening of the deep postural muscles that support this alignment. Pilates emphasizes joint stability and core strength through a series of controlled linear movements.

Gyrotonic® movements emphasize articulation of the joints and mobilization of the pelvis, spine, and shoulder girdle in a circular movement pattern. The uniqueness of the system is that it simultaneously stretches and strengthens the body with minimal effort, while increasing range of motion and developing coordination.

Benefits of Pilates

Tennis

Assisting with timing, rhythm and proper muscle firming, Pilates can help ensure the body is aligned and balanced through your swing and your ability to access core power quickly and efficiently.

Swimming

Pilates can assist with muscles firing correctly, leading to more fluid movement while swimming. The body is aligned, which leads to less neck strain. It also helps with proper mind-body control, which leads to a steadier and faster pace without wear and tear.

Golf

Pilates helps provide more distance and power in your swing. It builds the back muscles more evenly and strengthens the abdominal muscles to increase overall flexibility and balance. It decreases fatigue and increases range of motion in hips and shoulders. You will attain an optimal back swing and be able to hold your body position long enough to play through a shot.

Running

Pilates assists runners with elongating and aligning the spine for better stability. The diaphragm expands, and overall flexibility, strength and balance is increased. Pilates also provides more range of motion in the hips and shoulders, along with more upright alignment and enhanced concentration.
